No agent can be  an expert in all types of property all over the state, or even the county. 
I am a neighborhood specialist: My wife Irene and I raised our two daughters in Mount Baker, and nearly all my work is done in the lakeside corridor between Madrona and Seward Park. Many agents throughout Western Washington and Oregon have referred their local clients to me because of my knowledge and experience in these areas. I work almost exclusively with buyers and sellers of single-family homes, with a recent average sales price around $750,000.

Marketing and Negotiation Style

My education and professional background revolve mostly around psychology and teaching, and my educational and counseling skills are in continual use in my real estate career. I learned advertising copywriting from my father, a pioneering direct-mail writer, and find that my advertising regularly attracts more agents to my listings and more buyers to my open houses. My negotiating style is win-win: I make every effort to work out agreements that all parties are satisfied with.  A buyer or seller who feels he has "lost" at the bargaining table is resentful and much less likely to be willing to resolve problems that may arise, as they often do, between agreement and closing.

Professional qualifications

I'm in my 30th year of working in Windermere`s Mount Baker office. I am a Managing Broker, and have been my office's Assistant Manager for 25 years. I have taken literally hundreds of hours of training in negotiation skills, real estate and agency law, buyer agency, ethics, home construction, finance, Internet marketing (take a look at the photos on any of my listings on this site) and other pertinent subjects. I have been a columnist for Windermere's company newsletter on best practices for our agents, a member of Windermere's Standards of Practice Committee, and am a Premier Director for Windermere's upscale home marketing program. I am a delegate to the Statewide Forms Task Force, which oversees the real estate forms used by multiple listing associations across Washington. I am also a member and current President of Forum XXII, an elected group of 22 uncommonly successful in-city agents who meet monthly to exchange information on the market and our listings. This allows me to promote my listings directly to the agents most likely to sell them.

Where my clients come from

My success is a direct result of the work I do: well over ninety per cent of my business comes from referrals and repeat business from old clients and other agents. Because my past clients send me new clients, I am free to spend my time, not prospecting for new leads, but working with the clients I have, marketing their homes aggressively and helping my buyers find new homes.
